Mindspot

What is Mindspot

Insight. Balance. Recovery. In your language.

Mindspot is a psychological practice that helps people deal with stress, burnout, and job reintegration. I work on personal one-on-one sessions where I take your story, background and culture into account. Additionally I provide the sessions in the language that feels most natural to you: Dutch, English, Turkish, or Norwegian. There are no quick fixes, no one-size-fit-all plans. It is all about real guidance, tailored to you.

About the founder

Hi everyone! My name is Aylin Özer, founder of Mindspot. I am half Turkish and half Norwegian, born and raised in a small town near Maastricht. My parents came to the Netherlands as diplomats/expats, and I saw firsthand how hard it can be to live in a country where you don’t know anyone outside of work. Even with a strong work community, it often felt disconnected from the outside world.

At school, I experienced what it was like to be “the foreigner” trying to fit in. That sparked my interest in people, psychology, and belonging. I went on to study
Health Sciences with a track in Psychology at Maastricht University, fascinated by the patterns of human behavior and clinical psychology in particular.
After graduating, I worked for six years in mental health care, supporting victims of crime and trauma, multicultural families, and clients with complex problems. I noticed how language and cultural barriers often meant people didn’t seek help until things had become severe. Later, working in recruitment and HR, I saw how
stress and burnout were some of the biggest causes of sick leave.
That’s when the idea for Mindspot came together: to make psychological support accessible, practical, and culturally adapted. In May 2025, I launched my own
practice: helping clients gain insight, balance, and recovery, in their own language and in a way that respects their cultural background.

Do you recognize yourself in my story? Or do you have an expat in your team who could benefit from this kind of support? Reach out, I’d be glad to help.

Why Mindspot exists

Burnout is not the same as being tired. It’s the complete exhaustion of your stress system. It builds up slowly, often over months or years of pushing through. It reaches a point where taking rest no longer helps and the body stops bouncing back.  People experience constant fatigue, brain fog, emotional instability, and physical symptoms such as sleep problems, headaches, or heart palpitations.

Despite how common it has become, support often comes too late, feels impersonal, or ignores cultural context. Expats and people with multicultural backgrounds often face extra barriers when seeking help, from not knowing where to look, language struggles to feeling misunderstood. Companies struggle with the impact of long-term sick leave and need clear guidance in helping employees reintegrate. Each burnout costs an employer on average from €60,000 up to €100,000 per year making prevention and proper reintegration not just humane, but essential. Mindspot exists to bridge that gap: accessible, practical, and culturally attuned mental health care and job reintegration programs.

Who Mindspot helps

I work with individuals dealing with stress, burnout, or life overwhelm. Additionally, I also work with individuals who are on sick leave but don’t know how or where to reintegrate. I support expats and multicultural professionals who want to feel understood in their own language. I also partner with companies that want to prevent burnout or guide employees back into work through both first-track and second-track reintegration.

How Mindspot works

My approach is 1:1 sessions. The sessions are evidence-based, drawing from the CSR stress model, cognitive behavioral techniques, and applied psychology. Every trajectory is personalised, whether it’s prevention, recovery, or reintegration. The process is both empathetic and structured. I collaborate directly with employers to create a sustainable plan for returning to work.

What makes Mindspot different

Mindspot combines multilingual expertise with cultural sensitivity, offering support in four languages and with an understanding of how culture shapes experience. The focus is personal and practical — no vague advice, but real strategies that fit your life. Beyond recovery, I guide clients through reintegration and help them build long-term resilience.
